LONDON -- The atmosphere at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium reflects a grim reality as the team stares down the possibility of relegation.

Once a UEFA Europa League champion and a prominent force in the Premier League, Tottenham finds itself in a precarious position following a 3-0 defeat at home to relegation rivals Nottingham Forest. This loss marks their fourth consecutive defeat at home in the Premier League.

Forest's victory moved them two points ahead of Spurs, who now sit in 17th place, just one point above West Ham United, currently occupying the last relegation spot. With the international break approaching, Tottenham's slim lead over West Ham offers little reassurance as they have yet to secure a league win in 2026.

The last time Spurs earned full points was on December 28, 2025, against Crystal Palace, while their most recent home victory was against Brentford three weeks earlier. Overall, Spurs have managed only two home wins this season, amassing a mere 10 points at home— the poorest record in the Premier League.

Amidst the turmoil, the fans remain a potential source of support, facing a critical period of seven upcoming matches that could determine their fate in the league. Although supporters initially canceled a planned protest against club owners ENIC Group in favor of a spirited welcome for the team bus, their frustration was palpable as they booed the players off the pitch after the match.

Before kickoff, a banner reading "All Together - Always" was displayed, but by the end of the match, the sentiment had shifted to a more adversarial tone as fans expressed their discontent with both the team and coach Igor Tudor.

Tudor, who has struggled since taking over, has led the team to one win in his tenure, which included a solitary European victory against Atlético Madrid. However, in a crucial match against Forest, he opted to bench standout midfielder Xavi Simons until late in the game, a decision criticized given the team's dire need for a win.

Despite changes in management, Nottingham Forest demonstrated that such shifts do not always yield immediate results. Their current manager, Vitor Pereira, is the fourth to lead the team this season and secured his first league win after five attempts against Spurs.

During the match, Tottenham struggled to find solutions and were punished when Igor Jesus scored just before halftime, deflating the team’s morale. With confidence waning, they failed to recover, and Forest took control, solidifying their lead with a goal from Morgan Gibbs-White midway through the second half.

As Tottenham faces increasing pressure, their vulnerabilities become more evident, especially with their next match against Sunderland looming. Given West Ham's matchup against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Spurs could find themselves in the relegation zone by the time they take the field again.

As Taiwo Awoniyi added a third goal for Forest in the closing minutes, the stadium was nearly empty, with only a handful of fans remaining to express their disappointment. The overall mood was decidedly bitter, and the outlook for Tottenham appears increasingly bleak.
